Mr. Henry Doar...
One of Idlewoods most beloved teachers.
If you had Mr. Doar for a teacher you would
remember a few things:

1 - He loved playing Dodge Ball
2 - He was the King of Field Day
3 - He would administer the Presidential Physical Fitness Award
(And did everything he could to help you achieve that certificate on your own merit)
4 - HE LOVED TALKING ABOUT HIS PART IN WWII

I am sorry to say I did not remember many of the stories he had told us about his expericance in the war, just the memory that he loved talking about D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. And if you knew Mr. Doar you would remember the chunk of Shrapnel he carried in his leg from a wound he received in battle. I asked his daughter Traci on Facebook if she could refresh my memory with his role in the war.  She sent me the following newspaper accounts.  Henry Doar passed away a few years ago, but from reading the Idlewood posts, he is not forgotten.

I felt compelled to share these photos and stories as he was so proud of his service to our county.
